WILSON, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team dropped two games to Barton College on Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
The Rams got shutout in game one, 9-0, and dropped the second game 13-3 to move to 3-18 (2-4 CIAA) on the season.
How it Happened – Game 1
BC scored the first two runs in the bottom of the first inning. They added three more runs in the bottom of the third, one in the bottom of the fourth inning and three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.
BreAnna Steele pitched the entire game and moved to 2-8 on the season. She faced 23 batters and had two strikeouts.
How it Happened – Game 2
Barton took a 7-0 lead after scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning and added three runs in the bottom of the second. The Rams got on board in the top of the third after
Alea'ah Graham doubled to right field scoring Steel, (7-1). Barton answered back with five more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 12-1 lead. WSSU scored two more runs in the top of the fourth after
Dayona Bandy stole home, and with bases loaded an RBI walk from
Sierra Crocker scored
Jyla Thomas. (12-3).
Alicia Carrington pitched 3.1 innings and moved to 0-3 on the season. She had one strikeout. BreAnna Steel pitched 0.2 innings with one strikeout.
The Rams will be back in action on Friday hosting Fayetteville State for its annual Pink Game at Twin Cities Ballfield. The doubleheader will begin at 1:00 p.m.
