WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball extended their win streak to 11 after sweeping Elizabeth City State on Thursday afternoon at Twin Cities Ball field.
The Rams moved to 14-18 (11-4 CIAA, 10 SD) on the season.
How it Happened – Game 1
The Rams took an early 3-0 lead over the Vikings after two innings. WSSU added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. ECSU added two runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Rams scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 7-2 finish.
Jyla Thomas pitched the entire game moving to 5-3 on the season and she recorded four strikeouts.
How it Happened – Game 2

Aniyah Jackson, the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Alicia Carrington hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth and a fielder's choice from A. Jackson helped increase the Rams lead to 3-0 after six innings. ECSU scored one run in the top of the seventh, but WSSU won the game 3-1.
BreAnna Steele pitched the entire game moving to 6-8 on the season and she recorded three strikeouts.
WSSU will be back in action on Saturday, April 27th hosting Voorhees College for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. It is also senior day, and the Rams will begin the senior day ceremony at 12:30 p.m.
