Volleyball Takes Down Livingstone in Three Straight Sets Monday Night

Winston-Salem, N.C.  – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team sweeps Livingstone College 3-0, inside Whitaker Gymnasium.

The Rams improved to 8-8 (5-2 CIAA) on the season.

How It Happened vs.Livingstone College (25-8, 29-27, 25-19)

In set one, a Kamiyah Wilson kill gave the Rams a 3-2 lead. The Rams went on 9-1 run, taking a 12-3 lead on a Malani Martin kill. WSSU extended their lead 17-7 with another Malani Martin kill. The Rams closed the set on a 8-1 run, taking set one 25-8.

In set two, LC took a 4-2 lead with a kill. The Rams went on 5-0 run, taking a 7-4 lead on an LC error. WSSU extended their lead to 13-8, on a Blue Bears attack error. The Blue Bears went on a 4-1 tying the game at 16-16. The Rams took a 18-16 lead, on a Kamiyah Wilson kill. A Malani Martin kill gave the Rams a 22-19 lead. A Malani kill tied the game at 26-26. The Rams took set three 29-27.

In set three, the Rams took a 5-0 run lead on a LC attack error. A Jewel Pitt ace made the score 8-2 Rams. LC went on a 3-0 run, cutting the lead to 13-8 with a kill. WSSU went on a 4-0 run, extending their lead to 17-8 on a Angelica Turnage kill. The Blue Bears went on a 6-0 run, trimming the lead 20-16 on a Rams bad set. A LC attack error made the score 23-18. The Rams took set three 25-19.

The Lady Rams will travel to Bowie, Maryland, participating in the second CIAA Round-UP this season. All matches will be inside A.C. Jordan Arena, on October 18th and 19th.
