Fayetteville, N.C.  – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team split both games on the final day of the CIAA Round-Up. The Rams fell to Bluefield State 3-0, then defeated Virginia State in comeback fashion 3-2, inside Felton J. Capel Arena. 

The Rams moved to 6–8 (3-2 CIAA) on the season.

How It Happened vs.Bluefield State University (25-19, 25-11, 27-25)

In set one, the Rams took a 6-4 lead on an attack error. The Big Blue went on a 4-0 run, taking an 8-6 lead. BSU extended their lead to 12-7. WSSU went on a 4-0 run, cutting the score to 14-12 on Jewel Pitt ace. An Zoe Chesson kill cut the score to 17-16 Bluefield State. The Big Blue made the score 22-18 with a kill. BSU took set one 25-19. 

In set two, the Big Blue took a 5-1 lead. BSU extended their lead to 8-3 on a kill. The Rams went on a 3-0 run, cutting the score to 11-9 on a Kamiyah Wilson ace. BSU extended their lead to 18-11 on a Rams error. The Rams went on a 4-0 run, cutting the score to 20-17. WSSU cut the score to 23-21 on a Holiday Ellis kill. BSU took set two 25-21.

In set three, the Rams took a 7-3 lead on a Holiday Ellis ace. The Big Blue went on a 4-0 run, tying the game at 10-10. WSSU went on a 3-0 run, taking a 13-10 lead on Zoe Chesson's kill. An Aria Caldwell kill tied the game at 16-16. BSU took a 21-18 lead on a Rams attack error. An Aria Caldwell kill tied the game at 24-24. BSU took set three 27-25.

In set one, the Rams took a 4-0 lead on a Kamiyah Wilson kill. The Trojans went on a 5-1 run, tying the game at 5-5 with a kill. With another kill the Trojans took a 12-9 lead. WSSU fought back, cutting the lead down to 12-11 on a Trojans error. VSU went on a 4-0 run, extending their lead to 16-12. A quick 3-0 run gave the Trojans a 19-13 lead. The Rams chipped the VSU lead to 21-17 on a Trojans error. VSU took set one 25-21.

In set two, the Trojans took a 6-1 lead on a Rams attack error. VSU extended their lead to 10-2 on another Rams error. The Rams went on a 5-0 run, cutting the score to 20-17 with a Kamiyah Wilson kill. WSSU made the score 22-19, on a Trojans attack error. VSU closed out the set on a 3-0 run, taking set two 25-19. 

In set three, a Kamiyah Wilson kill gave the Rams a 5-4 lead. The Trojans went on a 3-0 run, taking a 7-5 lead. The Rams answered back, going on a 6-0 run, taking 11-7 on a Tiffany Blakley kill. VSU went on a 5-0 run, cutting the lead down to 14-12. A Zoe Chesson kill extended the Rams lead to 18-13. A quick 3-0 run gave the Rams a 22-15, on an attack error. The Rams took set three 25-18. 

In set four, a Kamiyah Wilson kill gave the Rams a 3-0 lead. WSSU extended the lead to 8-2, on a Holiday Ellis kill. VSU went on a quick 3-0 run, cutting the lead to 9-7. The Rams answered back with their own 3-0 run, taking a 13-9 lead on a Trojans error. The Trojans went on a 4-0 run, chipping the Rams lead to 14-13. The Rams went on a 3-0 run, pushing their lead to 18-!4 on a Trojans attack error. The Rams closed out the set on a 5-2 run, taking set four 25-20. 

In set five, a Kamiyah Wilson kill tied the game at 3-3. VSU went on a 7-0 run, taking a 10-3 lead. WSSU went on a 6-0 run, cutting the score to 10-9 on a Holiday Ellis kill. The Trojans went on a 4-0 run, taking a 14-9 lead. The Rams closed out the set on a 7-0 run, taking set five 16-14.
