Winston-Salem, N.C.  – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team sweeps Johnson C. Smith University 3-0, inside Whitaker Gymnasium for its home opener.

The Rams improved to 7-8 (4-2 CIAA) on the season.

How It Happened vs.Johnson C. Smith University (25-19, 25-16, 25-16)

In set one, a Holiday Ellis kill gave the Rams a 3-2 lead. The Golden Bulls went on a 4-0 run, taking a 7-5 lead. JSCU extended their lead to 13-9. WSSU went on a 4-0 run, tying the game at 13-13 on a Golden Bulls error. The Rams extended their lead to 17-14, on a Zoe Chesson ace. WSSU closed out the set on a 6-1 run, taking set one 25-19.

In set two, the Rams took an early 6-1 run, on Golden Bulls error. WSSU extended their lead to 10-3, on a Holiday Ellis ace. The Rams lead grew to 21-11, on a Holiday Ellis kill. JCSU went on a 4-1 run, cutting the Rams lead to 22-15. The Rams took set two 25-16.

In set three, the Rams took a 4-0 lead on a bad set. The Golden Bulls went on a 3-0 run, cutting the Rams lead to 7-4. The Rams went on a 6-0 run, extending their lead to 14-6 on a Zaria Keys ace. JCSU chipped the lead down 15-10, with a kill. WSSU went on a 5-1 run, growing their lead 20-11 with Zoe Chesson kill. WSSU closed out the set on a 5-1 run, taking set three 25-16.
