RALEIGH, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University volleyball team fell to Shaw 3-2, inside C.C Spaulding Gymnasium Monday evening.
The Rams moved to 4–7 (1-1 CIAA) on the season.

How It Happened vs.Shaw University (25-16, 26-24, 25-23, 25-22, 15-11)
In set one, Angelica Turnage gave the Rams a 7-6 lead with a kill. The Rams went on a 6-2 run, extending their lead to 16-12 with a Jewel Pitt kill. WSSU went on a 6-1 run pushing their lead t0 21-14, on a Kamiyah Wilson kill. The Rams took set one 25-16.
In set two, the Rams took a 7-2 lead with a Zoe Chesson kill. Shaw went on a 4-1 run, cutting the Rams lead to 8-6. A Bear attack error gave the Rams a 11-7 lead. A Bears kill cut the Rams lead to 16-15. Shaw went on a 5-1 run, giving the Bears a 20-17 lead. A Holiday Ellis kill cut the Bears lead to 20-19. The Rams tied the game at 23-23, on a Bears attack error. Angelica Turnage gave the Rams a 25-24 lead with a kill. The Rams took set two 26-24.
In set three, Holiday Ellis tied the game at 3-3 with a kill. Shaw went on a 4-0 run taking a 7-3 with a kill. WSSU cut the lead to 12-10 on a Bears attack error. The Rams went on a 5-1 run, taking a 15-13 lead with back-to-back aces by Kamiyah Wilson. The Rams extended their lead to 18-14, on a Holiday Ellis kill. Shaw cut the lead to 21-20 on a Rams attack error. Back-to-back aces by Kalyn Cuthbertson made the score 23-20. Shaw closed out the set on 5-0 run, taking set three 25-22.
In set four, the Bears took a 2-0 lead with a kill. The Rams answered back, going on a 7-1 run, taking a 7-3 lead on Aria Caldwell kill. A Kayln Cuthbertson's ace extended the Rams lead to 11-6. A Bears attack error gave the Rams a 16-10 lead. Shaw went on a 8-1 run, tying the game at 18-18. A Angelica Turnage kill gave the Rams the lead back 19-18. Shaw closed out the set on a 5-2 run, taking set four 25-22.
In set five, an Aria Caldwell kill tied the game at 3-3. Holiday Ellis gave the Rams a 5-4 lead with an ace. The Bears went on 3-0 run, taking a 9-6 lead. Aria Caldwell cut the lead to 13-11 with a kill. Shaw took set five 15-11.
Up NextThe Lady Rams will travel to Fayetteville, North Carolina, participating in the first CIAA Round-up this season. The Round-up will be held inside Felton J. Capel Arena, October 3rd and 4th.
