PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team delivered a strong performance at the Pawley's Island Beach Bash, finishing third overall in a competitive 17-team NCAA Division II field at The Founders Club at Pawleys Island on March 9–10.
The Rams posted a two-round team score of 596 (+20), improving by 12 strokes in the final round to secure a podium finish behind tournament champion Wayne State and runner-up Gannon.
Leading the way for Winston-Salem State was Godfrey Nsubuga, who turned in one of the top individual performances of the tournament. Nsubuga finished tied for second overall at 1-under par, placing him among the top golfers in the 118-player field.
The Rams sat in fifth place after the opening round but surged up the leaderboard with a strong second-round performance to close the event in third place.
