CALABASH, N.C. — The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team competed at the Larry and Wally Edgell Battle at Brunswick, a three-day NCAA Division II tournament held March 12–14 at Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort.
The Rams turned in a solid showing over the tournament, finishing with a three-round team score of 901 (+37). WSSU posted rounds of
303, 299, and 299, highlighted by a strong final two rounds in which the team broke the 300 mark each day.
WSSU's consistent scoring across the final two rounds demonstrated the team's depth and ability to adjust as the tournament progressed, with the Rams shaving strokes off their opening round score to close the event on a positive note.
The Rams will look to carry that momentum into their next tournament as they continue their spring season.
The Rams were led by a pair of consistent rounds from
Connor Lineberry and
Godfrey Nsubuga, who both finished inside the top 20 on the individual leaderboard.
Lineberry paced Winston-Salem State with a two-round total of 73 (+6), to finish 19th overall. Nsubuga matched the Rams' low round of the tournament and finished just behind Lineberry in the standings, posting a 73 (+8) of also tying for 19th place.
Tanner Frye turned in a solid tournament as well, finishing 32nd overall with a two-round score of 76 (+13).
Chase McLaughlin recorded a 77 (+20), finishing 51st, while
Cameron Lutterloh rounded out the Rams' scoring lineup with a 78 (+15), placing 38th overall.
Competing individually for Winston-Salem State,
Tyler Thomas finished with an 81 (+34) placing 83rd.
The Rams showed steady scoring throughout the tournament and continued to build momentum as the spring season progresses.
