WINSTON-SALEM, NC (
April 10, 2026) – The Winston-Salem State University women's flag football team advanced to the CIAA Championship game with a decisive semifinal victory on Friday.
The Rams defeated Claflin University 13-0, continuing their strong postseason run and positioning themselves for a second consecutive conference title.
With the win, WSSU once again demonstrated why it remains one of the premier programs in CIAA women's flag football. The Rams set the tone early, using a balanced offensive attack and a disciplined defensive effort to control the pace of the game.
Esge Muhammad caught two touchdown passes from
Myla Hoover, while
Amyya Brown had a receiving touchdown from
Chakira Generette.
On defense, Tyeshia Gist recorded an interception, and Sky Simmons added two sacks. This is the Rams' fourth shutout of the season.
Head coach Jordan Hicks said the team's focus and preparation were evident in the performance.
"I'm proud of how our team came out focused and executed from the start," Hicks said. "We set the tone early, stayed disciplined and did what we needed to do to put ourselves in position to compete for another championship."
The Rams will face
Fayetteville State University in the CIAA Championship game Saturday, April 11, at noon on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte.
