WILSON, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team faced a tough test on the road Thursday afternoon, falling in both games of a doubleheader against Barton College at Jeffries Field.
WSSU moves to 5-13 (2-4 CIAA) on the season.
How it Happened – Game 1
In a very defensive game, the Rams held Barton scoreless through four innings. Barton College scored two runs to take the game in the bottom of the fifth inning, 2-0.
Koralie Morin pitched 5.0 innings with four strikeouts and
Nevaeh Cruz threw 1.0 innings with one strikeout.
How it Happened – Game 2
Barton got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning. The Rams answered back in the top of third inning after
Riley Demers doubled to left field scoring
TaKara Ware and
Layla Smith to take a 2-1 lead.
Barton scored seven runs between the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning to take the game 8-2.
Nevaeh Cruz pitched 4.1 innings and
Jyla Thomas pitched 1.2 innings with one strikeout.
