GAME NOTES

Saturday's meeting between the Rams and the N.C. State Wolfpack was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

The Wolfpack now lead the all-time series, 1-0.

WSSU head coach Bobby Collins is now 83-106 (7 seasons, 3rd at WSSU) all time; Sidney Lowe's career mark is now 40-33 (3 seasons, 3rd at NCSU).

Sophomore guard Isiah Tucker returned home to Raleigh, N.C. for the contest.  Tucker is the only WSSU player whose hometown is the state of North Carolina capitol.

WSSU Assistant Coach Tim Wells returned to his alma mater for the first time as a collegiate coach.  Wells played for the Wolfpack from 1997-00, playing in 97 career games.

N.C. State improves to 5-1 overall with the win; Winston-Salem State falls to 1-7 with the loss.

WINSTON-SALEM STATE NOTES

WSSU started Brian Fisher, Isiah Tucker, Diontae Gibson, McIntoche Alcius and Paul Davis.

Senior forward Jamal Durham did not start the contest due to a nagging shoulder injury, the same ailment that kept him out of the Rams' last action at South Carolina State (Dec. 6).

Durham sat out the first 4:21 of the game before checking into the contest with 15:39 remaining in the first half of play.

The Rams narrowly avoided a season-worst first-half shooting percentage as they hit nine of their 34 shots in the half (.265).  The Rams' worst first-half shooting percentage this season is a .262 shooting percentage posted at Georgia Tech on Nov. 14.

The loss drops Winston-Salem State to 0-6 all-time versus Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponents.

The game marks the Rams' eighth consecutive contest away from home.  WSSU plays their first home game on Dec. 20.

The Rams return to action on Dec. 18 as they face the Eagles of North Carolina Central in Durham.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE NOTES

North Carolina State started Simon Harris, Javier Gonzalez, Trevor Ferguson, Brandon Costner and Ben McCauley.

The contest marks the second state of North Carolina school that the Wolfpack have played in 2008-09.  NCSU has played, and defeated, Winston-Salem State and UNC-Greensboro.  The Wolfpack play five of the 16 state of North Carolina schools this season as they still have UNC-Chapel Hill, East Carolina and North Carolina Central remaining on their schedule.

The Wolfpack scored 24 points in the paint in the first half.  Coming into the contest the Rams only allowed opponents to score 28 points in the paint PER GAME.  NCSU nearly achieved that feat in the first half.

N.C. State is now 8-0 all-time at the Reynolds Coliseum since the opening of their permanent home, the RBC Cetner.

N.C. State has now won the last 23 games against in-state, non-conference foes at home.

The Wolfpack return to action on Dec. 17 as North Carolina State hosts the Pirates of East Carolina in Raleigh, N.C.
