GAME NOTES

           Saturday's meeting between the Rams and the Aggies marked the 86th meeting between the two teams.

          The Rams now trail the all-time series, 49-37. 

           The last meeting between the two teams came on Feb. 23, 2008 in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the Coliseum Annex in a contest that the Rams won 71-63.  Jamal Durham led the Rams in scoring in that contest with 17 points. 

           WSSU head coach Bobby Collins is now 86-112 overall in seven seasons (3rd season at WSSU where he is 21-55); Jerry Eaves' career mark is now 53-116 (sixth season and sixth season at North Carolina A&T).

           Winston-Salem State drops to 4-13 overall with the loss; NC A&T improves to 8-11 with the victory.

           WSSU has dropped their last five games; The Rams last win came on Jan. 5 when they defeated Columbia Union 85-61.

           WSSU drops to 1-5 since the start of the New Year.  The loss to the Aggies marks the Rams first home loss of the season and marks the Aggies' first road win of the year.  N.C. A&T is now 1-10 on the road.

           The two teams will meet again on Feb. 21, 2009 at the Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C.

           

WINSTON-SALEM STATE NOTES

           WSSU started Jamal Durham, Paul Davis, Brian Fisher, McIntoche Alcius and Isiah Tucker.

           Senior forward Jamal Durham now has 1,088 points for his career.  He has appeared in 102 games for the Rams and has turned in a career scoring average of 10.7 points per game.  He ranks 20th all-time in scoring at WSSU.

           Jamal Durham tallied 12 first-half points versus the Aggies.  The double-digit single-half performance marks the third time this season that he has recorded double-digit points in a single half.

           Six WSSU players recorded points in the first half.  Seven Aggie players recorded points in the first half of play.

           With 10 turnovers during the first 20 minutes of play, WSSU has recorded double-digit turnovers in the first half for the fifth time in their last six games.

           With the loss, Bobby Collins' drops his all-time coaching mark against North Carolina A&T to 8-3 overall.  Two of those losses have come while serving as head coach of the Rams.

           The Rams return to action on Monday Jan. 26 as they face the Spartans of Norfolk State University in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the Coliseum Annex in the first of two meetings between the two teams in 2008-09.

 

NORTH CAROLINA A&T NOTES

           North Carolina A&T started Tavarus Alston, Julian McClurkin, Ed Jones, Thomas Coleman and Robert Johnson.

           The Aggies shot 51.6 percent from the field during the first half of play as they connected on 16 of their 31 field goal attempts. 

           The Aggies led two different times in the first half and led by as many as nine points in the first half of play before increasing their lead to double digits in the second half.

           Nicholas Wilson led all Aggies' scorers with nine points during the first half of play.  No N.C. A&T players scored in double-digits in the first 20 minutes.

           The Aggies return to action on Monday Jan. 26, 2009 in Orangeburg, S.C. as they travel to face the Bulldogs of South Carolina State at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Coliseum.
