Final Stats

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams moved to 5-13 on the season on Saturday afternoon at the WSSU Tennis Complex as they easily cruised to a 6-1 victory over the visiting Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State University.

The Lady Rams opened the match by securing the doubles points as Sloane Holmes and Bianka Locklear won at first doubles over Teddi Russell and Erika Acosta and Kayla Carter and Kalin Jarvis defeated Eben Russell and Brittany Craig at second doubles to give the home team an early 1-0 lead.

The Lady Rams would earn points in five of the six singles matches as West Virginia State earned their lone point of the match at third singles as WSSU earned the convincing win.

Johanna Nunez would turn in WSSU's most dominating singles performance as she allowed only one point in a 6-1, 6-0 drubbing of Erika Acosta at fourth singles as she helped to lead the Lady Rams to their fifth win of the season.

The victory improves WSSU to 5-13 on the year while West Virginia State falls to 3-4 on the season with the loss.

The Lady Rams return to action on Friday, April 9 as they travel to Greensboro, N.C. to face the Aggies of North Carolina A&T.
