Box Score 2 WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams baseball team dropped a double header to the #7 ranked Millersville University Marauders on Sunday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark, 8-6 in 11 innings and 8-7 in nine innings.
Game#1
The Millersville Marauders busted open a one run game with four runs in the sixth inning, set up by walks and errors.
WSSU battled back in the bottom half of the inning with a double by Paco Martin, a walk by Michael Robbins , before Aaron Jones picked up the rbi on a groundout. The Rams scored again in the seventh inning after a Paco Martin double and a Brandon Harrison single. Harrison eventually scored on a fielder's choice by Michael Robbins.
Millersville would once again plate a run, but the Rams would score three times in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings.
In the 9th, Zach Boraski singled to open the inning. Scott Wells came in to pinch hit and singled to right center field. Brandon Harrison would reach on a fielder's choice scoring Boraski. Travis Moore was then hit by a pitch and Michael robbins singled to left field, scoring Harrison. Aaron Jones would once again reach on a fielder's choice, scoring Paco Martin.
Paco Martin went 4 for 5 with two runs scored and an rbi, while Michel Robbins and Brandon Harrison each went 2 for 5. Harrison scored two runs and had one rbi, while Robbins collected two rbi. Aaron Jones also had two rbi's in the game. Zach Boraski was 1 for 4 with two runs scored.
Ryan Vickers (0-1) took the loss for the WSSU Rams.
Game#2
The WSSU Rams jumped out to the early 4-0 lead, as they capitalized on two Millersville errors in the top of the first, and got doubles by Paco Martin and Michael Robbins to open the door to four runs. The Rams' lead grew to 5-0 in the second, after Aaron Jones singles home Robbins.
But Millersville would charge back, collecting seven runs over the next three innings to take a 7-5 lead heading to the 7th inning.
The Rams would once again battle back, showing resiliency, and scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score. Travis Moore would reach on an error and Michael Robbins would single through the right side. Brandon Harrison would single to right field scoring both Moore and Robbins.
Both teams were stymied in the eighth inning, before the walk bug would rear its ugly head in the 9th inning for the Rams. Two walks and a single advanced the runners giving Millersville the 8-7 lead.
The Rams would go down in the 9th for the extra inning loss.
Brandon Christ (0-1) suffered the loss for WSSU.
Paco Martin continued his with his hot bat, going two for 5 with one run scored and an rbi, while Michael Robbins also went 2 for 5 with an rbi, and scored three runs. Both Martin and Robbins had doubles in the nightcap. Scott Wells was 1 for 2 with 2 rbi's, and Brandon Harrison was 1 for 5, with 2 rbi's. Aaron Jones was 1 for 5 with a run scored and an rbi. Wells, Robbins and Travis Moore each had a stolen base.
