WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (3-3) took a tough 6-3 loss to the West Liberty Hilltoppers (1-0), Saturday afternoon. The Lady Rams shook off a tough doubles effort for some solid singles play, but came up just short against the Hilltoppers. The Lady Rams went 1-2 in doubles play and posted a 2-4 effort in singles play.
The WSSU duo of senior Bianka Locklear and Kalin Jarvis took home the sole doubles with an 8-5 win at the #1 doubles position. Locklear carried her success into singles play with a 7-6, 6-2 singles win. WSSU sophomore Devan Corpening also recorded a singles win.
The Lady Rams will return to action, Monday, when the team hosts the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears in a 10:00 a.m. Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) match.
