Lady Rams Pick Up 7-2 Win Over Livingstone

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (3-3, 2-1 CIAA) returned to their winning ways, Monday afternoon when the team took an impressive 5-2 win over the Livigingstone Lady Blue Bears (0-4, 0-3 CIAA). The win snapped a three-match skid for the Lady Rams and gave the team a critical second win in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division.

The Lady Rams took the impressive win behind a great overall effort in both singles and doubles play. The Lady Rams opened the day with a pair of doubles wins. After taking a default win at the #3 doubles spot, the senior tandem of Taylor Harris and Carmen Grady rolled to an 8-0 win in #2 doubles.

From there, the team kept things going with some great singles efforts. Both Grady and Harris recorded singles wins with Harris taking a 6-0, 6-0 win at #1 singles and Grady taking a 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 singles. Sophomore Devan Corpening added an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win at #5 singles, while freshman Gabrielle Lindsey rounded out the effort with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #3 singles.

With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 2-1 in the CIAA Southern Division. The team will return to action this weekend when they head to Petersburg, Virginia to take part in the CIAA Round-Up.
