WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (5-7, 5-4 CIAA) ran out of gas in a tough 5-4 loss to the Shaw Lady Bears (9-3, 7-2 CIAA). Playing in their second match of the day, the Lady Rams fell short in a tough 5-4 loss to the Shaw Lady Bears, Monday afternoon.
The Lady Rams gave it their all, but the team could not get past the defending Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) champion Shaw Lady Bears. The Lady Rams opened the match with a default doubles point, but took losses at #1 doubles (8-0) and #2 doubles (8-6).
The team also took a default win at #6 singles, followed by a pair of singles wins. Senior Carmen Grady took an 8-4 win at #4 singles while junior Devan Corpening took an 8-3 win at #5 singles. However, the team could not get any more points and ended the day with the 5-4 loss.
