WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (6-10, 6-6 CIAA) put up a great effort, but the team fell short in a tough 6-3 loss to the Johnson C. Smith Lady Golden Bulls, Thursday afternoon. The Lady Rams notched one win each in doubles and singles play, but the team could not get much more in the hard-fought loss.
The Lady Rams opened the day with a 9-8 (7-4) win in doubles play with senior Taylor Harris and freshman Deja Stewart combined for the win. Stewart carried things over into singles play when she took a 6-0, 6-1 win at #1 singles.
With the loss, the Lady Rams close out the regular season with a 6-10 overall record and a 6-6 record in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The team will wrap up the regular season when the head to nearby Salisbury, N.C. to take on the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears.
