SALISBURY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (7-10, 7-6 CIAA) closed out the regular season in style when they took a dominating 6-1 win over the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears (1-12, 1-11 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Lady Rams took the win by sweeping doubles and taking four wins in five singles matches.
The Lady Rams opened the match with a pair of doubles wins, 8-3 at #1 doubles and 8-2 at #2 doubles. From there, the Lady Rams rolled into singles play with four wins, including a pair of 6-1, 6-2 wins by freshman Gabriel Lindsey and senior Carmen Grady.
With the win, the Lady Rams finish the regular season with a 7-10 overall record and a 7-6 record in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The win also seals a spot in the 2014 CIAA Women's Tennis Championship Tournament for the Lady Rams. The team will take the court next Thursday in Petersburg, Virginia.
