Rams Take 9-0 Loss to Chowan

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (0-4, 0-2 CIAA) gave a strong effort, but the team could not find any answers in a 9-0 loss to the Chowan Lady Hawks (8-1, 2-0 CIAA), Sunday morning on the second day of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tennis Round Up.

The Rams opened the day with three straight doubles losses, falling 8-2, 8-1, and 8-0 in first, second, and third doubles respectively. The duo of junior Gabrielle Lindsay and sophomore Aja Grant had the best effort with two points in doubles play.

The Rams also took six losses in singles play. Senior Devan Corpening had the best effort with a 6-1, 6-2 loss at #4 singles. Freshman Miranda Legg fell 6-3, 6-0 at #6 singles while Grant took a 6-0, 6-3 loss at #3 singles.

With the loss, the Rams fall to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in CIAA play. The team will return to action, Tuesday afternoon when the team takes the road to take on Fayetteville State in their CIAA Southern Division opener.
