SALISBURY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (8-7, 8-5 CIAA) completed their Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) schedule in style when the team rolled to an 8-1 road win over the Livingstone (3-10, 3-8 CIAA), Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Rams finish the season with a 6-2 record in the CIAA Southern Division and finish the season in second place.

The Rams opened the match with a dominant effort in doubles play. After getting a win by injury retirement at #2 doubles, the Rams completed the doubles sweep with junior Gabrielle Lindsay and sophomore Aja Grant combining for an 8-1 win at #1 doubles. The duo of freshman Miranda Legg and sophomore Anye Walker closed things out with an 8-2 win at #3 doubles.

With the sweep in doubles play, the Rams carried their momentum into singles play. Sophomore Zakia Spencer got things started when she claimed a win by injury retirement at #6 singles. Sophomore Aja Grant added a 6-0, 6-0 win at #3 singles before senior Devan Corpening added a 6-1, 6-0 win at #4 singles. Legg added a 6-1, 6-0 win at #6 singles before sophomore Alexus Morgan closed things out with a 6-3, 6-0 win at #2 singles.

With the win, the Rams complete the CIAA portion of their schedule with an 8-5 record in CIAA play and a 6-2 record to remain in second place in the CIAA Southern Division. The Rams will close out the regular season, Tuesday afternoon at the WSSU Tennis Courts.
