CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (5-4, 4-1 CIAA) had a perfect day at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) as the team notched three wins at the Life Time Athletic Club. The Rams took straight set wins over Virginia Union, Elizabeth City State, and Bowie State to improve to 4-1 in CIAA play.
The Rams got a strong early start to the day. The team opened the day with a 5-0 win over the Virginia Union Panthers. After taking a forfeit victory at #3 doubles, the team recorded a pair of 6-0 wins at #1 and #2 doubles to go ahead 3-0 at the end of doubles play. The Rams also took a forfeit win at #6 singles before closing the match when junior China Brown took an 8-2 win at #4 singles.
Things kept going their way for the Rams when the team took a 6-0 win against the Elizabeth City State Vikings in their second match of the day. The Rams took an 8-2 win at #1 doubles as well as a pair of 8-0 wins at #2 and #3 doubles. The Rams also added 8-7 win at #1 singles before an 8-4 win at #2 singles, and an 8-0 win at #3 singles.
The Rams closed the day with another dominating win over Bowie State. The Rams opened the match with three straight 8-0 wins in doubles play. The team closed the day in style with a pair of 8-1 wins at #1 and #2 singles.
With the undefeated day, the Rams improve to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in CIAA play. The team will return to action, Thursday, when the team hosts the Fayetteville State Broncos in a 2:00 p.m. match.
