WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-4, 5-1 CIAA) kept their hot streak going when the team took an impressive 8-1 win over the Fayetteville State Broncos (2-6, 2-4 CIAA), Thursday afternoon. The Rams claimed their fourth win in a row.
The Rams opened the match in style with wins in all three doubles sets. The Rams took an 8-3 win at #1 doubles, an 8-2 win at #2 doubles, and an 8-4 win at #3 doubles.
The Rams kept things going in singles play where the team took wins in five of the six singles matches. Senior Alexus Morgan took a 6-1, 6-0 win at #1 singles while freshman Taylor Champion added a 6-1, 6-0 win at #3 singles. Junior China Brown added a 6-3, 6-0 win at #4 singles while senior Aja Grant took a 6-1, 6-1 win at #2 singles.
With the win, the Rams improve to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. The Rams will return to action, tomorrow when the team returns to the road to take on the Converse Valkyries.
