WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Jaylon Gibson led the Rams with 20 points as the Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team defeated Johnson & Wales 84-57 Wednesday night inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
The Rams' home win streak is now 17 in a row. They also are 7-1 on the season.
Jaylon Gibson also recorded 13 rebounds. Also, scoring in double-figures was Jaylen Alston finishing with 14 points, and
Samage Teel finishing with 11 points, eight assists, and five steals.
Isaac Parson dished in 10 points on the evening.
The game was pretty evenly matched with both teams being tied at nine points each before the Rams went up 10 (23-13) with 9:55 left to play in the first half. With 4:34 left to play in the half, the Rams saw themselves up 15 (38-23) after Jaylen Alston hit an and-one layup. Jaylon Gibson and
Samage Teel hit a dunk and layup, respectively to give the Rams a 19-point (49-30) lead going into halftime.
WSSU's hot shooting continued as they went up 22 points on a three-pointer from
Isaac Parson. At the under-16-minute media, the Rams increased their lead to 54-37. The Rams finished the second half 15-for-35 and secured the victory 84-57.
Winston-Salem State University is back in action next Saturday, December 10th hosting Clark Atlanta at 4 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
