Rams Fought Hard but Fall to Virgina State Tuesday Afternoon

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University tennis team fell to the Trojans of Virginia State University, on a windy late Tuesday afternoon match at WSSU Tennis Courts. 

The Rams fell 0-4. 

Court 1- The excitement in today's matches came in singles competition starting on court one. Jericka Brodie for the Rams, had a breakout day today having solid volleys and impactful forehands. The first set concluded with Virginia State's Ginger Johnson winning the set with a score of 6-3. Brodie would continue her impactful returning and would open the second set scoring but would fall to the score of 3-1.

Court 2- Angel Bowden had an impressive performance on the day. Bowden, delivering a resilient effort in today's singles matchup against Virginia State's Morgan Best. Their match ended with a 6-3 score in the first set, and 3-1 in the final set. 

Court 3- Shajada Barrett gave an impactful performance by picking up a couple of points in the first set with powerful forehands and great serving, during her singles matchup against Ginger Johnson of VSU. Barret would drop the match to a score of 6-3, and 2-1. 

The Rams tennis team returns to action against the Livingstone Blue Bears on Wednesday, April 20th at 5 pm at the WSSU Tennis Courts to conclude its regular season.
