FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University men fell to Fayetteville State 63-51 inside the Felton J. Capel Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Rams moved to 16-7 (8-6 CIAA), while the Broncos improved to 14-12 (9-4 CIAA).
Jaylon Gibson led the Rams with 13 points, while Isaac Pason finished with 10 points. Nate Springs added nine points in the evening.
The Rams opened up the game on a 7-3 run. The Broncos took a 19-12 lead with 10:39 left to play in the half. Jermey Dixon hit a lay-up to bring the Rams within five, 19-14 with 8:56 remaining. The Rams trailed by ten, 26-16 going into the half.
The Rams cut into the Broncos' lead, 21-28 with 18:24 on the clock. DqQuavis Wilinks had a huge block that turned into a
Jaylon Gibson layup to give the Rams a 24-30 score with 16:33 to play in the half. Nate Springs hit back-to-back threes to bring the Rams within five, 32-37 with 14:09 remaining in the game.
Samage Teel hit a three to bring the Rams within nine, 51-60 with 1:41 on the clock. The Broncos pulled away winning 63-51.
