GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team fall in the season opener to NC A&T 74-43, inside the Corbett Sports Center.
The Rams moved (0-1, 0-0 CIAA) on the season.
Maia Charles led the Rams with 14 points and seven rebounds, followed by Taylor Simpson with seven points.

The Rams went 16-of-66 from the field, 9-of-14 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 33 rebounds, scored 20 points in the paint, 12 fast break points, 24 points off turnovers and 13 bench points.
How It Happened
In the first quarter, the Aggies took a 7-2 lead on a lay-up (5:48). A Ah'Kiyah Pye lay-up cut the score to 7-4 (4;53). The Aggies closed out the quarter on a 9-1 run, taking a 16-6 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, a Maia Charles lay-up cut the lead to 17-10 (6:06). The Aggies went on a 6-0 run, extending their lead to 27-13. An Amari Baldwin lay-up trimmed the lead down to 29-18 with 5 seconds before halftime. The Aggies took a 29-18 lead into halftime.
Going on a 9-2 run, the Aggies opened the lead up to 38-20 on a made free-throw (7:38). A three-pointer pushed the Aggies lead to 50-26 (2:38). The Rams closed out the quarter on a 9-3 run, cutting the lead to 53-33 on two Taylor Simpson free-throws, with 6 seconds in the quarter. A&T took that lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, a Naveah Farmer three-pointer cut the lead down 56-40 (6:51). A&T went on a 12-0 run, pushing their lead 68-40 (2;38). The A&T lead grew to 74-43.
