Lady Rams Dominates USC Aiken Saturday Afternoon

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -  The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team defeats USC Aiken 64-32, inside the C.E. Gaines Center.  

The Rams Improved (2-1, 0-0 CIAA) on the season 

Makayla Waleed led the Rams with 22 points, followed by Maia Charles had a double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds, Neveah Farmer chipped in 11 points. 

Quick Inside the Numbers

The Rams went 27-of-74 from the field, 3-of-13 from three, 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 39 rebounds, scored 44 points in the paint, 32 turnovers forced, 25 points off turnovers, 19 steals. 

 How It Happened

In the first quarter, the Rams jumped out to a 10-0 lead, on a Makayla Waleed three-pointer (6:21). WSSU extended their lead to 14-2, on a Jakaiya Mack lay-up (4:27). The Pacers went on a 6-0 run, cutting the Rams lead to 14-8 on a lay-up (3:05). WSSU closed out the quarter on a 6-2 run, taking a 20-10 into the second quarter. 

In the second quarter, the Rams went on a 6-0 run, extending their lead 26-10 on a Maia Charles lay-up (5:50). WSSU took a 29-10 lead, on Alana Biosse lay-up (4:21). A Neveah Farmer lay-up gave the Rams a 35-15 lead going into halftime. 

The Rams took a 39-16 lead on a Makayla Waleed jumper (8;59). WSSU lead grew out to 51-23, on a Ah'Kiyah Pye lay-up (3:20). The Rams took a 55-23 lead into the fourth quarter.  

In the fourth quarter, WSSU took a 57-23 lead on a Neveah Farmer lay-up (9:28). The Rams lead grew out to 64-30.

The Rams will travel to Athens, West Virginia on November 25, taking on Concord University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. inside the Carter Center.
