Lady Rams Conclude Road Swing at Lees-McRae Monday Night

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team will travel to Banner Elk, North Carolina, on December 1, taking on Lees-McRae College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the Williams Gymnasium.

Series Information 

Since 2024, this will be the second match-up between the Rams and Bobcats. Last time WSSU defeated the Bobcats 61-51 on November 13, 2024.

New Coaching Staff:

WSSU women's basketball enters a new era under the leadership of Coach Tierra Terry, no stranger to the CIAA as she was the head coach at Virginia Union. Coach Terry is also a graduate and former player for Winston-Salem State. She added coach Jessica Freeman and Dylan Anderson to her staff in the off-season. 

Ram Returners:

The Rams brought back seven returners from last year's squad: sophomore Alana Biosse, junior Zion Dixon, and seniors Kierran Walker, Alexandria Warren, Jakaiya Mack, Chloe Williams and Jahmaria Miles

Ram Newcomers:

During the off-season, WSSU welcomed in nine newcomers: freshman TaNiya Simms, Kloe Thompson, Taylor Simpson, Breonna Roaf, Amari Kilgore-Baldwin, sophomore Ah'Kiyah Pye, junior Neveah Farmer, senior Makayla Waleed and transfer sophomore Maia Charles

CIAA Preseason/Polls:

The Lady Rams were selected to finish seventh in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) preseason poll.

Jakaiya Mack was named to the preseason team.

Last Time Out

The Rams defeated Barton 56-54 on November 29. Nevaeh Farmer led the Rams with 16 points, followed by both Makayla Waleed and Maia Charles with 11 points. 

Scouting Report:

The Rams are led in scoring by Maia Charles, averaging 14.2 points, followed by Nevaeh Farmer with 11.8 points and Ah'Kiyah Pye with 11.8 points. WSSU is averaging 70.6 points per game. 

Lees- McRae College (4-1, 2-0 CC)

The Bobcats defeated North Greenville 84-77 on November 25. Nadiya Hairston leads the Bobcats in scoring with 18.4 points per game, followed by Kaylee Carson with 12.4 points per game. Lee-McRae is averaging 76.6 points per game. 

Up Next

The Rams will wrap up non-conference play by hosting Francis Marion University on December 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center. All fans can bring a canned good for free entry.
