Lady Rams Host Francis Marion Thursday, Open Conference Play at Bowie Saturday, at Lincoln Monday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team will hosts Francis Marion on December 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center. 

The Lady Rams open up conference play traveling to Bowie, Maryland, taking on Bowie State University on December 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. inside the A.C. Jordan Arena. 

The women will head to Wilmington, Delaware taking on Lincoln University (Pa.) on December 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 inside the Chase Fieldhouse.

Series Information vs. Francis Marion 
Since 2014, this will be the second match-up between the Rams and Patriots. Last time FMU defeated the Rams 68-59 on December 1st, 2014.

Series Information vs. Bowie State 
Since 2005, the Bulldogs have led the series 13-7. Last time, the Bulldogs defeated the Rams 64-54 in the opening round of the CIAA Tournament, on February 25th, 2025. 
 
 Series Information vs. Lincoln (Pa.) 
Since 2011, the Lions have led the series 11-10. Last time out, the Rams fell to the Lions 65-45 on December 19th, 2025. 

New Coaching Staff:
WSSU women's basketball enters a new era under the leadership of Coach Tierra Terry, no stranger to the CIAA as she was the head coach at Virginia Union. Coach Terry is also a graduate and former player for Winston-Salem State. She added coach Jessica Freeman and Dylan Anderson to her staff in the off-season.
 
Ram Returners:
The Rams brought back seven returners from last year's squad: sophomore Alana Biosse, junior Zion Dixon, and seniors Kierran Walker, Alexandria Warren, Jakaiya Mack, Chloe Williams and Jahmaria Miles.
 
Ram Newcomers:
During the off-season, WSSU welcomed in nine newcomers: freshman TaNiya Simms, Kloe Thompson, Taylor Simpson, Breonna Roaf, Amari Kilgore-Baldwin, sophomore Ah'Kiyah Pye, junior Neveah Farmer, senior Makayla Waleed and transfer sophomore Maia Charles.
 
CIAA Preseason/Polls:
The Lady Rams were selected to finish seventh in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) preseason poll.
Jakaiya Mack was named to the preseason team.

CIAA Weekly Awards 
  • Ah'Kiyah Pye was named CIAA Rookie of the Week for week three. 
  • Breonna Roaf was named CIAA Rookie of the Week for week four. 


Last Time Out
The Rams defeated Lees-McRae 76-75 on December 1. Maia Charles led the Rams with 15 points, followed by Breonna Roaf with 12 points and Makayla Waleed and Ah'Kiyah Pye with 11 points each. 

Scouting Report:
The Rams are led in scoring by Maia Charles, averaging 14.3 points, followed by Ah'Kiyah Pye with 11.8 points and Nevaeh Farmer with 11.0 points. WSSU is averaging 71.5 points per game. 

Francis Marion University (5-2, 2-0 CC)
The Patriots fell to USC Aiken 61-60 on December 9. Kiara Croskey leads the Patriots in scoring with 16.3 points per game, followed by Bentlee Chockley with 10.0 points per game. Francis Marion is averaging 69.0 points per game. 

Bowie State University (6-1, 0-0 CIAA)
The Bulldogs defeated Shippensburg 71-37 on December 5. Afia Owusu-Mensah leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 11.3 points per game, followed by Makala Cobb with 10.6 points per game. Bowie State is averaging 72.6 points per game. 

Lincoln University (Pa.) (2-7, 0-1 CIAA)
The Lions fell to Johnson C. Smith 50-49 on November 25. Kaziah Akinniyi leads the Lions in scoring with 15.8 points per game. Lincoln is averaging 56.4 points per game. 

Up Next
The Rams will travel to Ferrum, Virginia taking on Ferrum College on December 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside the Swartz Gymnasium.
