WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A pair of student-athletes from the Winston-Salem State University softball team earned Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) weekly honors for week three.
Aaliyah Rodriguez was named Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate
Tymiah Wimbush was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Rodriguez is batting .421 on the season. This week against Chowan, Aaliyah went 4-of-5 at the plate, one RBI, one double, two runs, one walk and only stuck-out once. Her best game came in game one of a doubleheader against Chowan on March 7th. Aaliyah went 2-of-3 at the plate with 2 hits including a double and an RBI and scoring a run.
Defensively Winbush this week posted a .1000 fielding percentage, with three put-out against Chowan on March 7th. Offensively Tymiah went 2-of-6 at the plate, one double, one RBI, one run and only stuck-out once. Tymiah's best game came in game one of a doubleheader against Chowan on March 7th, she went 1-of-3 from the plate with a double, knocking in a RBI and scoring a run. Winbush is batting ,300 on the season.
The Rams will be back in action on Saturday, March 15 at Elizabeth City State University for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
