WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University softball team was recognized Thursday morning by the United Way of Forsyth County annual meeting for their outstanding support and dedication to helping with the hurricane relief efforts in North Carolina last semester.
The meeting which was held at the Barn in Reynolds Village consisted of recognizing organizations for the Spirit of NC Award and Special Awards. The Rams were under the Special Awards category where they received the Heroes of Hope Certificate.
During the month of October, members of the softball team met with the United Way of Forsyth County members and helped put together care packages for the families that was impacted by Hurricane Helene. It was a month-long initiative, and the Rams spent multiple weeks in helping put together the care packages.
WSSU softball will be back in action tomorrow, Friday March 7 hosting Chowan University for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Twin City Ballpark.
