WINSTON-SALEM, NC –
Jyla Thomas from the Winston-Salem State University softball team was chosen to represent the university in the Minority Softball Prospects (MSP) HBCU All-Star Game, taking place Friday, May 30 at Stick Williams Dream Fields in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The sophomore from Moreno Valley, California was named the 2025 CIAA Pitcher of the Year after having 22 appearances with 13 starts, a 10-5 record a 2.63 ERA pitching 96 innings with 83 strikeouts. She was also named to the All-CIAA First Team and was named to the NFCA DII All-Region Second Team.

The Minority Softball Prospects (MSP) HBCU All-Star Game is an annual showcase that brings together the top softball talent from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across NCAA Divisions I, II, and NAIA. Now in its third year, the event highlights the achievements of HBCU student-athletes and coaches, providing them with national exposure and celebrating their contributions to collegiate softball.
The 2025 MSP HBCU All-Star Game is scheduled for Friday, May 30, at Stick Williams Dream Fields in Charlotte, North Carolina. Festivities begin at 6:00 PM with a Home Run Derby and the Fastest HBCU Prospects Challenge, followed by the All-Star Game at 7:15 PM. Attendees can enjoy elite competition, live music, food vendors, and a vibrant atmosphere celebrating HBCU culture.
