WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team will host rival Livingstone College on February 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center. 

The Lady Rams will return to action on February 12, hosting Claflin University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center.  

The Lady Rams will conclude their home slate on February 14, taking on Shaw University on Senior Night. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center.

Since 2006, the Rams have led the series 17-14. Last time the Rams defeated the Blue Bears 66-55 on February 22, 2025.

This will be the 2nd match this season between the Rams and Panthers. Last time the Rams defeated the Panthers 50-41 on January 21, 2026.

This will be the 2nd match this season between the Rams and Bears. Last time the Rams defeated the Bears 64-54 on January 17, 2026.

New Coaching Staff:

WSSU women's basketball enters a new era under the leadership of Coach Tierra Terry, no stranger to the CIAA as she was the head coach at Virginia Union. Coach Terry is also a graduate and former player for Winston-Salem State. She added coach Jessica Freeman and Dylan Anderson to her staff in the off-season.

 Ram Returners:

The Rams brought back seven returners from last year's squad: sophomore Alana Biosse, junior Zion Dixon, and seniors Kierran Walker, Alexandria Warren, Jakaiya Mack, Chloe Williams and Jahmaria Miles.

 Ram Newcomers:

During the off-season, WSSU welcomed in nine newcomers: freshman TaNiya Simms, Kloe Thompson, Taylor Simpson, Breonna Roaf, Amari Kilgore-Baldwin, sophomore Ah'Kiyah Pye, junior Neveah Farmer, senior Makayla Waleed and transfer sophomore Maia Charles.

 CIAA Preseason/Polls:

The Lady Rams were selected to finish seventh in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) preseason poll.

Jakaiya Mack was named to the preseason team.

CIAA Weekly Awards 

• Ah'Kiyah Pye was named CIAA Rookie of the Week for week three. 

• Breonna Roaf was named CIAA Rookie of the Week for week four. 

• Ah'Kiyah Pye was named CIAA Rookie of the Week for week five. 

• Makayla Waleed was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week for week six, while teammate Breonna Roaf was named CIAA Rookie of the Week. 

• Maia Charles was named CIAA Player of the Week, while Amari Baldwin was named Rookie of the Week for week eight.

• Breonna Roaf was named CIAA Player of the Week for week 10. 

WBCA Coaches Poll

The Lady Rams were ranked 21st in the WBCA Coaches Poll this week. 

Last Time Out

The Rams defeated JFayetteville State University 50-36 on February 9. Jakaiya Mack led the Rams with 11 points, followed by Navaeh Farmer chipping in with 10 points.

The Rams are led in scoring by Maia Charles, averaging 14.0 points, followed by Makayla Waleed with 11.0 points. WSSU is averaging 65.8 points per game.

The Blue Bears defeated Johnson C. Smith 63-51 on February 7. Breasia Colt leads the Blue Bears in scoring with 13.3 points per game, followed by Jasiyah Crawford with 11.0 points per game. LC is averaging 65.8 points per game. 

Claflin University (12-6, 8-4 CIAA, 3-3 South) 

The Panthers defeated Shaw 61-45 on February 7. Ashart Lewis leads the Panthers in scoring with 14.7 points per game, followed by Mia Lewis with 10.1 points per game. Claflin is averaging 68.1 points per game. 

Shaw University (7-11, 4-7 CIAA, 1-4 South) (Play Fayetteville State Feb 9)

The Bears fell to Claflin 61-45 on February 7. D'Ayzha Atkinson leads the Bears in scoring with 15.7 points per game, followed by Leasia Matthews with 11.0 points per game. Shaw is averaging 56.1 points per game.
