WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State women's tennis team fell to the Shaw Bears by a final score of 6–1 on March 1, 2026 at Hanes Park.
Shaw controlled the match early, securing the advantage after doubles play and continuing that momentum into singles competition. The Bears captured the majority of singles courts to seal the team victory.
WSSU's lone point came from Briana Drew, who earned a strong singles victory for the Rams, preventing the sweep and highlighting the afternoon for Winston-Salem State.
Despite the result, several Rams competed hard throughout the lineup, including Makayley Battle, Mikayla Stewart, Kyle Burns, and Iyana Nickens, who each battled through competitive singles matches against Shaw's lineup.
