WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University women's tennis team will head to Petersburg, Virginia to play in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championships.
On the campus of Virginia State University, the number three South seeded Rams will take on the number 2 North seed Trojans in the quarterfinals on April 24 at 4:00 p.m.
Before the quarterfinal rounds, the Rams will participate in a community service activity on Thursday afternoon, and the yearly award ceremony will take place Friday morning at 9:30 p.m.
Going into the quarterfinals, the Rams have finished the regular season 3-11, 3-8 CIAA.
WSSU will look to their key freshman Mckinely Battle and
Mikayla Stewart to lead the way. Battle plays in the #1 spot, and Stewart goes back and forth between the #2 and #3 spot. The two freshmen have come into the program ready to make some noise. Both ladies have earned CIAA weekly honors this season.
