Auburn Shoots 58% From The Field As They Down WSSU Men 95-62

Nov. 17, 2006

Final Stats

AUBURN, AL - The Auburn University men's basketball team shot nearly 58% from the field as they hit 33 of their 57 field goal attempts en route to a 95-62 win over the Winston-Salem State University Rams at the Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum in Auburn, Alabama on Friday evening as they recorded their largest margin of victory in the Jeff Lebo head coaching era.

Despite a double-double from Jamal Durham that saw the sophomore forward record game highs of 22 points and 13 rebounds, the Rams shot only 33% from the field as Auburn, using a raucous home crowd advantage, earned the win to improve to 2-0 while the Rams dropped to 1-4 with the loss.

Durham was joined by David Moore who tallied 12 points and six rebounds in the contest, including a pair of thunderous dunks, one of which came during a 6-0 Winston-Salem State University run in the second half of play.

Six Tigers recorded double-digit scoring performances as Frank Tolbert led all Auburn players with 21 points and five rebounds in the win.  He was joined in double-figures by Korvotney Barber and his 14 points as well as three other Tigers in double-digits.

Auburn's distinct advantage on the evening was in their hot shooting as they successfully converted 10 of their 21 three-point field goal attempts for a shooting percentage of 47.6% from behind the three-point arch.

The loss drops the Rams to 1-4 on the season while the Tigers improve to 2-0 with the win.  Winston-Salem State University returns to action on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 2:00 pm as they face the Panthers of Georgia State University from the GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
