Winston-Salem State placed four players in double-figures, but it was not enough as the Rams fell to USC-Aiken, 98-84 Monday night at the USC-Aiken Convocation Center.

It was a game of back and forth as the two team tipped off, with the lead changing hands several times early on.

WyKevin Bazemore gave WSSU a 6-3 lead at 18:34, their largest and last of the game as they would not be able to overcome some sloppy play that resulted in turnovers and foul trouble to leading scoreer, Justin Glover.

USC-Aiken would be able to put some space between themselves and the visiting Rams, and took a 49-40 lead into the locker room at the half.

The second half began much like the first half ended, with the Pacers forcing the tempo and the action and quickly raced out to a 14 point lead.

WSSU would pull to within nine points at 66-57 with 9:10 remaining before the USC-Aiken Pacers would go on another run and push the lead back out to double digits. 

But it was too much USC-Aiken on this night and they would go on for the 98-84 win.

The loss drops #15 Winston-Salem State to 1-2, while USC-Aiken improves to 2-0.

For the Rams, WyKevin Bazemore led the way with 13 points and five rebounds, while Tyre Desmore came off the bench to also chip in 13 points.  Wakefield Ellison also came off the bench with good energy, and scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds, and Stephon Platt added 11 points, two rebounds and two blocks. Justin Glover added nine points; Dominic Alston six; and Marcus Wells added five points, two assists and two steals.

USC-Aiken had five players in double figures, led by Ronald Zimmerman's 28 points, and Jesse Seilern's 19 points.

Winston-Salem State will travel to the State of Wisconsin on Friday as they will take on Northern Michigan in the Fresh Coast Classic at 2:00pm.
