RICHMOND, VA – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (2-4, 2-4 CIAA) picked up an impressive win Sunday when the team took an 8-1 win at Virginia Union. The Lady Rams had one of their best efforts of the season when they took the dominating road victory.
The team kicked things off in style when they won all three doubles points. The duo of freshman Zakia Spencer and sophomore Anye Walker had the most impressive showing when they took an 8-0 win at #3 doubles. Senior Devan Corpening and freshman Aja Grant combined for an 8-1 win at #2 doubles while sophomores Gabrielle Lindsay and Deja Stewart took an 8-2 win at #1 doubles.
The Lady Rams kept things going in singles play with wins at #2, #3, #4, #5, and #6 singles. Lindsay, Grant, and Spencer both had 6-0, 6-0 wins at #3, #4, and #5 singles respectively while Walker and Stewart both had 6-1, 6-0 wins at #2 and #6 singles.
