Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Nathan Steger had four rbi, and Dylan Dombrowskas had three rbi, including a two run home run, as the WSSU Rams won their 10th game of the season with a 16-3 blasting of Davis & Elkins College Wednesday night at BB&T Ballpark in downtown Winston-Salem.
With the win, WSSU moves to 10-4 overall, while David & Elkins falls to 1-3 on the season.
Winston-Salem State got on the board first, with a two out, two run double from Nathan Steger in the bottom of the first inning that would score Connor Andrus and Dylan Dombrowskas.
Davis & Elkins would answer with a run on the top of the second inning, scoring a run off two this and a WSSU error to cut the Rams lead to 2-1.
Gavin Culler would put the Rams back up by two runs in the bottom of the second with a single to right field that would score Jacob Barber.
WSSU would begin to put some distance between and their opponent, with a three run third, and adding another run in the fourth to move out in front 7-1.
The Senators would add a run in the fifth and seventh inning to pull to within four, at 7-3.
Winston-Salem State would blow the doors off of Davis & Elkins in the eighth, with a nine run, nine hit inning, with the big blast being a two-run towering home run to left field from Dylan Dombrowskas, to give the Rams a commanding 16-3 lead, that they would hold onto for the win.
Aaron Hatch picked up the win for WSSU, going 3.0 inning of relief work, allowing four hits, and one run, while striking out six Senator batters. Nathan Steger started for the Rams, and went 2.0 innings allowing three hits, and one run while striking out two. Hayden O'Neal also went 2.0 innings in relief, allowing one hit and one unearned run, with a strikeout. Austin Cole and Tyler Scearce each pitched an inning of scoreless, hitless baseball.
Nathan Steger finished the night three for four with a double, two runs scored and a game high four runs batted in. Dylan Dombrowskas finished three for five with three runs scored, three runs batted in and a monstrous two run home run. Gavin Culler went two for four with two runs scored and two rbi. Jacob Barber was two for five with two runs scored and a run batted in, and Phillip Page went one for five with two runs scored and a run batted in. Connor Bodenhamer finished one for tow with a run scored and a run batted in. Colby Keene went one for three with two runs scored, and Alex Grubb was one for four with a run scored. Aaron hatch also picked up a rbi.
