WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (0-2, 0-2 CIAA) struggled against the top team in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) when they took a 9-0 loss to the Chowan Hawks (6-1, 3-0 CIAA), Sunday morning.
The Lady Rams' struggles began early when they took three losses in doubles play. After taking 8-0 losses at #1 and #3 singles, the Lady Rams showed some fight in an 8-1 loss at #2 doubles. In singles play, sophomore Gabriel Lindsay had the best performance with a 6-2, 6-1 loss at #3 singles. Fellow sophomore Deja Stewart took a 6-1, 6-1 loss while freshman Aja Grant took a 6-1, 6-0 loss at #4 singles. Fellow freshman Anye Walker took a 6-0, 6-1 loss at #6 singles while senior Devan Corpening and freshman Zakia Spencer both took 6-0, 6-0 losses at #1 and #5 singles respectively.
