Box Score 2 WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams swept a mid-week double header from the Bluefield State College Blues on Wednesday night, 8-3 and 15-11, at games played at Mando Field in Rich Park in Mocksville, NC.
With the two wins, WSSU moves to 40-13, a modern era school record for wins in a season, while the Bluefield State Blues fall to 9-36 on the year.
In game one, The WSSU Rams used a five run sixth inning to pull away from Bluefield State late for a 8-3 victory.
Hayden O'Neal picked up the win, while Jordan Cummings picked up his sixth save of the season. Eric Corlett pitched 5.0 innings, allowing 10 hits and three runs, while striking out three and walking two. O'Neal went 1.0 hitless and scoreless innings, and Jordan Cummings allowed one hit in his 1.0 inning pitched.
Gavin Culler, Dylan Dombrowskas and Michael McNamara each drove in two runs, while Des Roberts and Colby Keene in drove in one run.
In game two, Winston-Salem State used a 10 run third inning to blow the game wide open, and then cruised to a 15-11 win over the Bluefield State Blues in the nightcap.
Connor Andrus drove in four runs, while Alex Grubb and Rashad Webster drove in three runs each. Colby Keene drove in two and Gavin Culler, Nathan Steger and Taylor Idol each had one run batted in.
The NCAA DII Regional Selection Show is Sunday, May 10th at 10:00pm, and the Regional will begin on May 14th and run through May 17th.
