Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, NC – After falling behind early, the WSSU Rams regrouped and took the lead with a four run third inning, as the Rams would sweep the Concord Mountain Lions, 8-5, on Sunday.
Randal Ortiz singled to left, scoring Randy Norris and Brandon Ford. Later in the inning, John Garcia singled home Emilio Abreu and Randal Ortiz would score on an error by Concord.
In the fifth, Michael McNamara opened the inning with a home run to left field, and John Garcia scored on a wild pitch. Willie McRae would drive home Matt Mauldin on a sacrifice fly to right field.
The Rams would get one more in the bottom of the sixth, when McNamara would drive home Ivan Acuna on a sacrifice fly.
Randal Ortiz finished 1 for 4 with a run scored and two runs batted in, while Michael McNamara went 1 for 1 with a run scored and two runs batted in. Randy Norris went 3 for 4 with a run scored. Brandon Ford went 2 for 4 with a run scored and Emilio Abreu went 2 for 4 with a run scored. John Garcia went 1 for 2 with a run batted in and a run scored, while Matt Mauldin finished 2 for 3 with a run scored and Willie McRae went 1 for 2.
Landon Steiner got the win for WSSU, pitching the final 3.0 inning, allowing two hits and one run, while striking out four.
