Indoor Track and Field had a Great Showing at the VMI Winter Classic

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Winston-Salem State University women's indoor track and field team had a great showing at the VMI Winter Classic over the two-day meet.

How it Happened – Track Events

Ronee Tudor finished with a time of 25.66 in the 200m. Amique Willis ran a time of 27.48 and Jaynissa Cauthen ran a time of 27.64.
In the 400m, Daijion Lee ran a time of 1:01.21, while Kyla Houston ran a time of 1:04.36 and I'Sheondra Powell finished with a time of 1:06.50.
Zynobia Ugbong competed in the 500m running a time of 1:32.48.
Wynter Stample and Tinasia Davis ran in the 800m finishing with times of 2:31.64 and 2:36.56, respectively.
Vanessa Jones ran a time of 6:11.61 and Zynobia Ugbong ran a time of 6:45.26 in the mile.
Amique Willis had a top-ten finish coming in ninth place in the 60h semifinals with a time of 9.15.
The 4x400 relay team comprised of Daijion Lee, Tinasia Davis, Janiyah Ross, and Amique Willis collected tenth place with a time of 4:14.27.
The 4x800 relay team made up of Tinasia Davis, Vanessa Jones, Jaiyah Nelson, and Wynter Stample captured fourth place running a time of 10:38.79.

How it Happened – Field Events

Kennedy Alexander had another NCAA qualifying mark capturing second place in the high jump, 1.65m (5'5").
Janiyah Ross and Amiyah Murray both jumped a mark of 1.45m (4'9") in the high jump.
Tionna Wilson jumped a mark of 5.30m (17'4.75") in the long jump and Jayla Warren jumped 4.69m (15'4.75").
Jayla Warren finished in ninth place in the triple jump with a mark of 10.78m (35'4.5"). Kyndall Barrow had a mark of 10.45m (34'3.5") and Nia Hester jumped 9.62m (31'6.75").
Asia Lampe finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.34m (40'6").
