WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University track and field team opened the 2025-26 indoor season at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off hosted by JDL.
On the field side, the Rams came in hot competing in every event.
In the 60m, top times came from freshman
Candace Morris who ran a time of 7.72 and
Brianna Benloss with a time of 7.73.
In the 60m hurdles,
Charnessa Reid came in third place with a time of 8.75 and
Jaynissa Cauthen had a PR time of 9.36.
The 200m seeded times included
Asheika Smith who finished sixth with a time of 24.86, Benloss ran a time of 25.25 and
Candace Morris ran a time of 25.34.
Olivia Cosby finished in third with a time of 56.83 in the 400m seeded.
Rainn Sheppard ran a time of 2.20.16 in the 800m, while
Simone Kelly ran a time of 2:23.51.
In the mile, freshman
Ava Millner ran a time of 5:22.42 to come in 11th place.
The 4x400m relay team made up of Kelly, Smith, Morris and Cosby came in sixth place with a time of 3:58.54.
Field Events
Trinity Brooks finished eighth with a 5.34m mark in the long jump.
Jazmin Terry came in tenth in the shot put with a mark of 11.97m.
Trinity Brooks also had a top mark in the triple jump coming in eighth (11.31m).
Alaina Moody had a 11.47m mark in the weight throw.
WSSU will be back in action in the new year competing at the Ramapo College Opener on January 16 in New York, New York.
