#18 Lady Rams Bounce Back Against Johnson C. Smith Thursday Night

Winston-Salem, N.C. -  The Winston-Salem State University women's basketball team dominated Johnson C. Smith University 59-41, inside the C.E. Gaines Center. 

The Rams improved to (17-2, 8-1 CIAA, 3-1 South) on the season.

Maia Charles led the Rams with 12 points, followed by Jakaiya Mack chipping in with eight points.

The Rams went 24-of-51 from the field, 4-of-17 from three, and 7-of-12 from the free-throw line. The Rams grabbed 34 rebounds, scored 34 points in the paint, forced 24 turnovers, scored 20 points off turnovers, and had 15 steals. 
 
 How It Happened
In the first quarter, the Rams took an early 10-0 lead on a Makayla Waleed three-pointer (8:26). The Rams extended their lead to 16-2 on a TaNiya Simms jumper (4:10). JCSU cut the lead to 18-8 on a lay-up (1:24). WSSU took a 20-10 lead into the second quarter. 

In the second quarter, the Rams went on an 8-0 run, taking a 28-10 lead on a Maia Charles lay-up (4:43). The Rams took a 34-14 lead into halftime on a Ah'Kiyah Pye lay-up as time expired. 

In the third quarter, the Rams' lead grew out to 41-18 on a Ah'Kiyah Pye three-pointer (3:52). WSSU took a 45-24 lead on a Ah'Kiyah Pye lay-up (0:35). The Rams took a 45-26 lead into the fourth quarter. 

In the fourth quarter, the Golden Bulls cut the lead to 49-34 on a lay-up (5:08). An Alana Biosse jumper gave the Rams a 53-35 lead (4:14). Strong defense helped the Rams seal the victory.

The Lady Rams will travel to Richmond, Virginia, taking on Virginia Union University on February 4. Tip-off scheduled for 5:30 inside Barco Stevens Hall.
