WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Rainn Sheppard from the Winston-Salem State University women's outdoor track and field team was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Track Athlete of the Week the league announced Wednesday afternoon.

Middle distance runner Rainn Sheppard set a new Winston-Salem State school record in the 800 meters, posting a personal best time of 2:09.19 at the UCF Division I meet. Sheppard placed seventh in the event and currently ranks twelfth nationally in Division II.

Sheppard and the Rams will be back in action this weekend, April 17-18 at the Aggie Invite hosted by North Carolina A&T State in Greensboro, North Carolina.
