Emporia, KS - The Winston-Salem State University women's outdoor track and field team concluded an outstanding season on the national stage as
Charnessa Reid and
Rainn Sheppard competed at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas.
Reid earned Second Team All-American honors in the 100m hurdles after finishing ninth overall in the nation. The senior standout capped off another historic season for the Rams, returning to the NCAA championship stage for the second consecutive year after earning All-American honors during the 2025 season.
Throughout the 2026 outdoor season, Reid consistently ranked among the nation's elite hurdlers. She posted a season-best time of 13.63 in the 100m hurdles and qualified for nationals after clocking a 13.70 at the Mount Olive First Chance Meet earlier this month.
Sheppard also represented the Rams on the national stage in the 800 meters, finishing 18th in the country to close out a remarkable sophomore campaign.
During the season, Sheppard rewrote the Winston-Salem State record book in both the 800m and 1500m events. She set a school-record time of 2:09.19 in the 800m at the UCF Invitational before later improving that mark to 2:08.38. Sheppard also captured the CIAA title in the 1500m with a school-record time of 4:31.94.
The national championship appearances by Reid and Sheppard highlighted another successful season for the Rams women's track and field program, as Winston-Salem State continued to establish itself among the top Division II programs in the region and nation.
