WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
Charnessa Reid and
Rainn Sheppard from the Winston-Salem State University women's outdoor track and field team qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for May 21-23 in Emporia, Kansas.
All events will take place at Welch Stadium.
For Reid, a senior from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this is her second straight time competing at this level. Last season, the All-American finished in fourth place and was named the USTFCCCA Women's Track Athlete of the Year.
Reid will run the 100m hurdles in heat one on Friday, May 22, at 7:50 p.m. CST / 8:50 p.m. EST. Her personal-best time is 13.20, and her season-best time is 13.70.
Reid hit her qualifying time of 13.70 at the Mount Olive First Chance Meet on May 8.
Reid also saw the podium in the 100m hurdles, capturing second place at the CIAA Championships with a time of 14.09.
Sheppard, a sophomore from Brooklyn, New York, will compete in the 800m run in heat one at 7:15 p.m. CST / 8:15 p.m. EST. Her personal-best and season-best time is 2:08.38. She hit her qualifying time at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier Meet.
Sheppard captured first place in the 800m at the CIAA Championships with a time of 2:09.75.
