Final Stats

Durham, NC - The Eagles of North Carolina Central University used 51.1% shooting on Saturday night at McClendon-McDougald Gymnasium to hand the Rams of Winston-Salem State University a 65-55 CIAA Western Division loss on the road in Durham, NC in CIAA men's basketball action.

The Rams, playing in their third game in five days, and second consecutive road contest, looked fatigued as the Eagles, energized by a near sellout crowd of 2,943 at McClendon-McDougald Gym hit better than half of their field goal attempts as the Eagles moved to 6-13 overall and 4-5 in the CIAA.

WSSU trailed the host-team Eagles by seven points at the halftime intermission at 30-23 and were never able to recover as NCCU handed WSSU their second consecutive CIAA Western Division loss.

For the fourth game in WSSU's last five contests, the Rams were led by senior guard Alleggrie Guinn who tallied 15 points and four rebounds in the loss.  He was joined in double figures by Corey Parker and Audly Wehner who each contributed 10 points each in the loss.

North Carolina Central was led by Chris Tyrance who tallied 14 points in the win.  Tyrance was not the only Eagle in double figures as Bryan Ayella and Julius McLellan tallied 11 and 13 points respectively.

With the loss, the Rams fall to 13-8 overall and fall to 6-5 in the CIAA (2-3 CIAA West).

The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 7:30 pm as they travel to hostile Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC on the campus of Saint Augustine's College to square off against the Falcons in an important CIAA Western Division contest.  The two teams met on January 10, 2006 in Winston-Salem, NC with WSSU earning the 98-90 win over the Falcons.
